SnagNFix ("we", "us") is a property defect management platform. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it. By creating an account you agree to this policy.
Who we are
SnagNFix is the data controller for the personal data processed through this app. A developer (your housing provider or site representative) configures projects and invites contractors and homeowners to participate.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, phone number (optional), and role (developer, contractor or homeowner).
- Home details: plot/house name, address, and handover dates relating to your property.
- Snag reports: the title, description, location, photos, voice notes and any notes you add to a defect.
- Usage data: basic activity logs needed to operate and secure the service.
Photos you upload may contain metadata. We automatically strip location (GPS) and other EXIF metadata from images when you upload them to protect your privacy.
Lawful basis
We process your data under contract (to deliver the snag management service you signed up for) and legitimate interests (to operate, secure and improve the service). Homeowner name and address are shared with contractors so that defects can be located and repaired.
How we use your data
- To log, classify, schedule and resolve reported defects.
- To notify you of updates to snags you are involved in.
- To generate reports and analytics for the developer and contractor.
- To keep the platform secure and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for marketing or sell it to third parties.
Sharing
Homeowner name, address and snag details are visible to the developer and the contractor responsible for your plot, and any sub-contractor they assign — strictly for the purpose of repairing defects. Access is controlled by role-based permissions so each party only sees what is relevant to them.
Cookies
SnagNFix uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the service. Cookies are small files stored on your device when you use the app.
Essential cookies keep you logged in and secure your session. These are strictly necessary for the service to function and cannot be switched off.
Analytics & preference cookies (if enabled) help us understand how the app is used and remember your settings (such as notification preferences). These are non-essential and only set with your consent.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in and using the app.
Retention
We keep your data for the duration of the Building Defects Liability Period (BDLP) for your plot, plus a reasonable period afterwards to handle any outstanding issues, after which it is deleted. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access a copy of your personal data;
- Rectify inaccurate data;
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
You can download a copy of your data, or request deletion, from Settings → Your data & privacy.
Photos of people
Please avoid photographing identifiable third parties (including neighbours or their property). If you appear in a photo you did not consent to, contact us and we will remove it.
Contact
To exercise any of these rights, or to ask a question about your data, use the "Request deletion" option in Settings or contact the developer who invited you to the platform.
